Historic Argyle has set about the task of restoring and maintaining Saxton House, a prominent landmark in
the Argyle community since 1850, and historically important statewide as the boyhood home of Robert
LaFollette. This work is ongoing, mostly with volunteer labor from the community and materials that were
donated or purchased with local grant money.
Help is needed. General carpentry skills are valuable, but most of the work, which may include painting and
garden maintenance, do not require any special skills.
Can you help us? The result of ongoing work is a historical site that the community can
take pride in. We envision a site that is open for visitation. (Could you volunteer as docent?) It can also
become a site for community events. (Could you volunteer to assist with the event?)
